Embrace the beauty of fall in the Greater Fairfield County Area with a variety of exciting events and activities for the whole family.
As a long-time resident of Fairfield County, I've always been captivated by the stunning fall foliage that transforms our region into a breathtaking wonderland. With so many incredible events and activities happening throughout the season, there's no shortage of ways to make the most of this picturesque time of year.
Here are some of my favorite fall activities that I’ve enjoyed with my family over the years:
Festivals and Events:
- Fairfield County Fair (October 6-12): Experience the quintessential county fair experience with thrilling rides, delicious food, live music, and agricultural exhibits.
- Metro Parks Fall Fest (October 12): Join us at Slate Run Metro Park for hayrides, pumpkins, crafts, archery, s'mores, and more from 11-3! Enjoy 1880s games provided by Slate Run Living Historical Farm, taste some yummy treats from local food trucks, and browse fall fares from area vendors.
- Alley Park Pumpkin Hike (October 19): Join us for a spooky evening at Alley Park! Enjoy a hike through the park's trails, illuminated by carved pumpkins. Before the hike, carve your own pumpkin in the barn from 8-11am and enjoy a bonfire and concessions from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm in the Nature Center parking lot. The hike begins at 6:00 pm and will last until 8:30 pm. Don't miss this fun-filled family event!
- Lancaster Fall Festival & Trick-or-Treat (October 19): Destination Downtown Lancaster will be hosting a Fall Festival and Downtown Trick-or-Treat. Join us downtown for an afternoon of fall traditions and community! We will have FREE hayrides, live music, local vendors, and much more! Participating downtown businesses will be passing out candy to all trick-or-treaters between 12-1:30pm, or while supplies last.
- Pigeon Roost (October 1-31): Discover the magic of fall at Pigeon Roost, a farm nestled in the countryside of Hebron. Enjoy hayrides, games, an obstacle course, giant gerbil wheels, and the chance to feed and pet farm animals like goats and rabbits. Don't forget to pick your own pumpkins from their giant pumpkin patch! Open Wednesday-Sunday from 10am-7pm.
- Circleville Pumpkin Show (October 16-19): Join the world's largest pumpkin show for a few days of fun, food, and entertainment. Taste a variety of pumpkin treats from local vendors as you wander the streets admiring some of the largest pumpkins you'll ever see. Don't miss the pumpkin weigh-in contest and a parade!
